Janet Echelman Takes her Imagination Seriously – and so should we!

Ted talks are as varied as their presenters, today I enjoyed this talk by Janet Echelman.

Janet started out as a painter but was forced to look for ‘something else’. She came across some fishermen on a beach in India, repairing their nets, she looked at the familiar sight with new eyes that day, her imagination took hold and she saw the creative possibilities of this soft material.

From her very first netted sculpture, to the structures she puts up now, in cities al over the world, her imagination, sense of colour and  design and sheer tenacity, have taken her works to become unbelievably beautiful arial sculptures.

But I’ll let Janet tell her own story, it’s an inspiring tale, so do yourself a favour and take the 10 minutes to enjoy it!
